Here we have another local freshman picking up a college scholarship offer. This isn’t just any high school freshman, as you can imagine. This is heralded Bishop Sullivan cornerback Tank Land.
Tayvion “Tank” Land, was an eighth grade All-American for FBU and the U.S. Army All-American bowl. He landed his first offer before he arrived at Ocean Lakes. Virginia Tech was the first in. NC State is now the second.
NC State assistant coach George Barlow was one of the many college coaches that visited Bishop Sullivan for a team workout on Wednesday. By Friday, Land had an offer from the Wolfpack. Tayvion was thrilled to get the offer. A visit to Raleigh is next on his schedule.
” I haven’t visited the campus yet, but I plan on going this Summer, maybe twice. I’ll go to a camp there,” Land stated.
There were a lot of other college coaches that visited Bishop Sullivan’s college day workout, and Land is up to speed on the schools that are showing interest in him.
“Purdue, Florida State, UNC and Maryland…. I also plan on going to camps there.”
It will be a busy summer for him. Land (FR CB 5-8 165) still has a growth spurt ahead of him. College coaches may want to see that happen, but his skill is undeniable. At the Nike Opening Regional in Charlotte, Land was able to shut down receivers that were inches taller and years older than him. He did the same against teammates at Bishop Sullivan on Wednesday.
The offer list will grow. In the meantime, Tank Land can bask in his early success and look for more great things to come.
