NoVA has a huge tight end who’s ready for a breakout: Kris Leach
Liberty (Bealton) has been on quite a run of success. They’ve been a playoff team for eight straight years, and they’ll look to make it nine this fall.
Liberty tight end Kris Leach has been on a similar run of success when it comes to recruiting. He’s picked up scholarship offers from Temple, Old Dominion, Liberty and Richmond.
This summer, Kris is camping to get the exposure he needs in order to determine if he makes the grade as a Power Five recruit. His early May showing at the Nike Opening Region in New Jersey was solid. He measured out at 6-5 1/2 and 221 pounds. He ran a 4.75 forty, a 4.47 shuttle, tossed a 42 foot Powerball and his vertical leap was 30.4 inches. That netted him he 8th best SPARQ rating on the day.
Leach has proven himself.
At this point, it looks as though the eye test is the last test he needs to pass. He’s been invited to a number of camps at high profile schools in the next six weeks. He visited Virginia Beach on Thursday night to see the Gators coaching up athletes along with the coaches from James Madison. \
Who’s showing interest?
“Penn State, Florida, Virginia Tech, UVA… those are the big ones that are showing interest,” Kris stated. “I plan on going to Florida in July. Virginia Tech, I’ll be attending their camp later this month, and the same with UVA.”
“Richmond is still trying to decide if they want me to play receiver or tight end. They want to be able to split me out as a receiving tight end,” said Leach.
In addition to playing tight end for the Eagles, Leach also plays safety on the defensive side of the ball. He’s not getting recruiting attention for that, but it just adds to his versatility.
All the measurables are there. It seems like it’s just a matter of Leach showing what he can do, in front of the college coaches. That comes next.
