Bethel lineman Solomon Luckett picks up his first scholarship offer

Although the camp and combine season will be reaching its conclusion over the next couple of weeks that doesn’t mean offers stop rolling in. Bethel hasn’t been quiet over the summer as Coach William Beverley has made sure the Bruins have made it to more 7-on-7’s than not. The skill players aren’t the only players getting noticed. Solomon Luckett represents a position that sometimes doesn’t get much attention. The Hampton native has worked extremely hard over the last three years and now all of his hard work has come to the forefront. Just before the holiday (Independence Day), Luckett received his first offer which came by way of Kentucky Christian University. KCU has been extremely busy throughout the 757. Although they haven’t gotten many commits this offseason it hasn’t stopped them from throwing offers this way.
“I got in contact with KCU via Twitter and nor too long after that they were telling me they wanted to offer me a scholarship. It felt good getting this first offer especially when they initially contacted me. I feel as though I’ve worked hard enough and now I’m just trying to talk to as much coaches and go to as many cams as I can,” stated Luckett.
The Bethel product plays on both sides of the ball but enjoys playing on the offensive line because he feels as though it’s a better fit. Should Luckett (JR OT/DT 6-4 275) commit to KCU they’d be bringing him in to play across the offensive line. The fact that Luckett is able to also play along the defensive line only strengthens his value for whatever program he decides to commit to. If KCU is looking for a hardworking offensive lineman who has zero plans to give up, then Luckett may just be their guy; however, KCU may have a small problem. With Luckett’s senior year rapidly approaching, interest is starting to pile up fast.
“Norfolk State, Coastal Carolina, Chowan, Virginia State, and Hampton University are currently showing me interest. I talk to the Chowan head coach (Tim Place) on a daily basis on the phone. I also talked to the Norfolk State head coach (Latrell Scott) at their camp not too long ago. He told me he liked the way I play,” added Luckett.
Luckett has a few camps he’s trying to attend before August rolls around next month. The Bethel Bruin has already completed the camps he wanted to attend the most which included The Nike Opening in the late spring. With the summer months winding down recruiting is clearly still in high gear.
