Crabber lineman Elijah Conliffe is close to narrowing his list after a visit to Tennessee

Hampton Crabber lineman Elijah Conliffe is a hot talent with a lot of college coaches. He’s seems to have no trouble finding schools he likes either.
Elijah (JR DT/OT 6-5 275) has seen his offer list expand to 25 schools and there’s quite a geographic spread in the list.
Conliffe loved a spring visit to Penn State. He visited the University of Tennessee over the weekend and expressed a lot of positives about the Vols as well.
“I liked everything (about the visit). I didn’t know any of the guys on the team when I first got there, but I know a good portion of them now. They care for each other and I see that.” Conliffe continued, “The coaches, I love what they’re trying to do with the program. I went out to the flea markets and saw some of the fans. I received so much love out there.”
Elijah has repeatedly expressed interest in pursuing a degree in Engineering. That gives him a lot of options within the schools that he’s received offers from.
“The head of academics sat and talked with me and my parents. The plan that they have set leads to success. I can do Engineering and the coaches are good with that. The students were cool too. I watched six guys commit while I was there,” Elijah said.
Tennessee landed commitments from Theo Jackson (FS 6-2 176) from Overton HS, Nashville (TN), Princeton Fant (WR 6-2 206) from LaVergne (TN), Tre Lawson (DE 6-6 247) from North Augusta (SC), Jordan Tucker (OT 6-7 335) from Roswell (GA), Trey Coleman (ATH 5-11 203) from West Monroe (LA), and Jaquan Henderson (S 6-1 205) from Newton HS, Covington (GA) over the weekend. The Volunteers now hold 18 verbal commitments for the Class of 2017.
Though Tennessee is now near or at the top of his list, he maintains that he will take all of his official visits before announcing a decision.
“My mom loved the visit. My stepdad loved it too. I’m going to USC and Oklahoma (for visits). Communication is key to making my top five,” Conliffe said, meaning that college coaches that communicate with him the most and the best are most likely to get an official visit.
Before you think that Conliffe is “big timing” college coaches, understand that he’s very low-key about the whole process. The Conliffe family is of modest means, and they understand the gravity of the situation. Official visits allow Elijah and his family an opportunity to see schools far away and consider them equally to nearby schools that they could visit more often.
Conliffe has established that he has significant interest in Penn State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, USC, NC State, Maryland, Ole Miss, Miami, and Michigan State. He plans to announce his top five at the end of the summer.
