Make that TWO 757 players for the Dallas Mavericks, with the NBA franchise adding Williamsburg native Keith Hornsby to a roster that also features former IC Norcom standout, Dorian-Finney Smith.
Hornsby, began his high school career at Hampton Roads Academy, before transferring to Oak Hill as a senior. After signing with UNC Asheville out of high school, Hornsby left following the resignation of coach Eddie Biedenbach, spending his final two college seasons at LSU where he averaged 13 points on 50 percent shooting, playing alongside 2016 number 1 overall draft pick, Ben Simmons. The sharpshooter had a career-high appearance of the 2015 season following preseason surgery. Hornsby posted this message on his Facebook account to confirm the Dallas signing on Wednesday.
“Signed my first pro contract today with the Dallas Mavericks! So thankful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get to work!” the 6-foot-4 guard posted.
The shooting guard will likely add a three-point shooting dimension to a Mavericks team that lost one of its best shooters, Chandler Parsons, to free agency. Pairing with one of the game’s all-time great three-point shooters in Dirk Nowitzki is also an added bonus for the LSU grad. Keith is also the son of Grammy award-winning performer, Bruce Hornsby.
