Peninsula products’, Dominique “Dom” Carter and Tajh Eason, decided to further their basketball careers at the University of Virginia College at Wise.
The future Cavaliers obtained partial academic and basketball scholarships.
“Tajh and Dom are both great examples of student-athlete because they get it done in the classroom and on the court to reach their goals and their dreams. It has been an honor to be their life coach as well as their assistant coach through the years and watching them grow into young men. I’m very proud to be Tajh’s Father and Dom’s God Father,” said Warwick Assistant Head Coach, Venny Eason.
“I’m excited for them, I told them they need to make sure they go out there and work hard just like they did here. It’s going to always be an adjustment when you move away from home but they’ll be fine they have a strong support system with family, friends and coaches that love them and care about them so they’ll be okay,” said Warwick Head Coach Jimmie Gerald
The Raider duo started out playing basketball together at Hunter B. Andrews Middle School and the Hampton Hoyas and went on to play at Phoebus High and BWSL 16/17U upon making their last stop at Warwick to finish high school.
“Those kids are number one coachable kids, respectable kids, they come from good stock. They work hard and they are what we call a “coach’s kid,” said Gerald.
Carter, one of the three point assassins for the Raiders, concluded his high school tenure averaging 15 points and fellow senior teammate, Eason, nearly tallied a double-double average with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Outside of their success on the court, Tajh Eason and Dom Carter both excelled in the classroom too. Both athletes will graduate in June with above a 3.0 GPA and Eason is a member of the National Honor Society at Warwick High.
“I am looking forward to developing my game and having that full college experience and furthering my career and education,” said Warwick Senior, Tajh Eason.
