After a solid junior campaign, Nick Ackies is eyeing a big senior season as the most experienced defensive lineman the Rebels possess.
The Fab 30 is all about the rising seniors, and we’re recognizing the best of the best in Central Virginia.
#23 Nick Ackies – Douglas Freeman High School (SR DT 6-3 283)
I’m not sure if we’re going to see Nick Ackies in MLB: The Show or in Madden 2021 at the conclusion of his college career. Ackies can throw a 90 mile per hour fastball and he can penetrate an offensive line with one move. That’s not much of an option for opposing batters or opposing offensive lines.
Ackies was able to get out on a few recruiting trips this off season most notably taking a trip out to Old Dominion University in April. The Rebel product is a returning starter from a team last year that finished the season 9-1 before losing to Lee-Davis in the first round of the playoffs. Ackies was able to accrue 30 tackles, three sacks, and one interception last season for the Rebels. He was also selected to the All-Metro first team defense last season. He was also selected as a Second Team All-Conference Punter last year.
The Rebels will start out the season on the road when they travel to Midlothian on August 7 at 7:00 pm. Last season, the Rebels started off on the right foot, besting Midlothian 35- match up of the season.
