After making his first Crabber debut of the 2016-2017 season at the beginning of summer ball, Hampton rising senior Mastadi Pitt soon fell victim to injury a month later in an AAU Tournament.
Midway through July, Pitt was kneed in the thigh during the Adidas Summer Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada and was unable to play the final few games of the tournament for Team Loaded VA who advanced to the final 4.
“Although I couldn’t play, I was very vocal from the bench and cheering my team on,” Pitt said.
Pitt also watched from the sideline during the rest of the Heritage Summer League and the Crabbers went home with new hardware after winning the championship game.
“I feel like us winning the Heritage Summer League was a positive step for us and we are starting to get our chemistry back early, Pitt explained as reference to the reunion of himself, Marquis Godwin and Jalen Ray.
After sitting out about a month, Pitt will be able to play again as August wraps up and the school year begins.
“I’m glad to be back and I’ve been working on getting back into shape and getting my body right,” Pitt said in regards to his break from basketball.
While Pitt had a minor setback over the summer with the injury, the Crabbers showed their depth and versatility without one of their leading scorers.
The 6’ two years and earned PenSouth Conference POY honors at the conclusion of his sophomore season with the Crabbers before transferring to Atlantic Shores.
