Bethel’s Jeremiah Owusu has not picked a favorite

Clearly, Jeremiah Owusu loves the process and all that comes with it. Whether it’s training during the offseason with Mondo Walker (JR/SS 5-11 170) and the rest of the Bruins or taking recruiting trips, it’s all working right now. 247Sports currently has Owusu (SR/ATH 6-3 190) as the 17th best prospect in the state of Virginia.
Currently Owusu is sitting at 16 offers. His most recent offer came from Rutgers which came near the end of May. The rising senior recently met with 247 Sports where it was assumed he held a top-three college offer list. The list included: the University of Virginia, North Carolina State, and Temple University. Owusu cleared up any confusion that may have been gathered from that report.
“Honestly it’s not even like that. At this point, I hold no favorite and I’m not even to the point where I want to announce a favorite. The three schools I named are all schools that I really like at the moment. Honestly, I’m interested in every school that has offered me thus far. When I’m ready to come up with a top five or even a top three list, I will, but until then, those three are just schools that I like,” stated Owusu.
It’s not uncommon for college prospects to announce a top list and then condense that list down.
College prospects have been finding more and more interesting ways to announce their verbal commitment.
Recently, four-star recruit Brandon Burton of Junipero Serra High School committed to UCLA. He did so by setting up a paintball game in which his friends dressed in gear representing different offering colleges. The game ended with Burton capturing the flag of the program he committed to.
Khalan “Lambo” LaBorn of Bishop Sullivan, Virginia’s top prospect this past season, committed to FSU at the Nike Opening in Oregon by entering the facility in a Lamborghini and exiting the car waving a FSU flag. The point is, Owusu will get there one day but that day is not today.
More importantly, Owusu destroyed his SAT by notching a score of 1310. For the 11th and 12th grade Owusu grabbed a score that put him in the 92nd percentile on a national level. The Bethel product is proof that you can’t have one without the other. Academics go hand-in-hand with football and if you can’t perform in the classroom you won’t have the opportunity to perform on the field.
Look for more to come from Jeremiah Owusu as we are just from week one football.
