Three-time state champions, Princess Anne will be graduating seven experienced, key seniors, but upcoming junior guard Xaria Wiggins is confident that they won’t skip a beat and the program won’t have a drop off.
“I want another state championship. It’s not going to be easy and we have to work very hard, but we still have a lot of pieces to in another ring,” Wiggins said.
Wiggins has helped lead PA to two straight Group 5A state titles. This past season Wiggins helped the program pick up their third straight state title scoring a career high of 22 points and Salem High School, in the state semi-finals.
“{Coach} Dozier has helped me become a better defensive player. I have learned that if I wanna get on the court I have to play with heart but most importantly play DEFENSE,” Wiggins added.”Coach Dozier gives me confidence that I can be a great leader and put this team on my back next season.”
The 6-foot-1 guard now counts offers Auburn, North Carolina, Old Dominion, Rutgers, Virginia Tech University and West Virginia. Wiggins also mentions strong interest from Florida, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami and South Carolina.
“I would say that I have a very high interest in UNC and Maryland. They have both been recruiting me for a while, and I loved the family team chemistry I experienced on my visit,” Wiggins said.
