Rising senior Marvin Trotman III is anxious for his upcoming season at Atlantic Shores.
“I’ve spent a lot of this summer on the shooting gun, and working on my footwork and just making my game more efficient so that I can have a successful senior year,” Trotman said.
Atlantic Shores, the 2014 Metro Conference champions, has taken part in grueling workouts all summer, with an aim towards repeating as conference champs. The program did suffer a crushing blow when point guard Mastadi Pitt transfered back to Hampton. However, most of the team’s focus has been working on their flexibility, strength, ball handling skills, and they have been communication with each other a lot about improving for this upcoming season.
“Our team goal, is to obviously win a state championship and have a way better season than last year. We achieved a little bit last year but I feel we can achieve a lot with the team chemistry we have this year,” said Trotman.
Trotman knew that basketball was going to play a huge role in his life since his dad was a all-county standout at Princeton High in New Jersey. His grandfather, Marvin Sr, was also a high-scoring guard at Princeton.
“I’ve had a basketball in my hand since before I could walk, ” added the rising senior. ” My goal is to play basketball at the division 1 level and get my degree in either psychology or sociology.”
Thia summer, Trotmam played travel ball with both the Uncommon Bulls and Team Loaded 757. Trotman has spent nearly his entire offseason in the gym.
“Basketball has helped me grow a lot as a young man just with having to manage time, and not always being able to do certain things, because I’m an athlete,” said Trotman.
“My mentor is definitely my dad. He has taught me a lot of things about life and about basketball that has molded me into the person I am today. The stuff he has been through, and to still be able to stand strong and be a great example for me is all the motivation I need to keep striving for success,” said Trotman.
Trotman is confident that him and his teammates are going to shock a lot of people this upcoming season.
